10 days left of the Film Submission Early Bird period of FEST 2021

FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival is moving towards its 17th edition, taking place from the 21st to the 28th of June 2021, in Espinho, Portugal, showcasing some of the best talents in cinema. We have opened the film submissions, and our Early Bird period is almost ending.

Submit your film within the next 10 days to enjoy a special Early Bird fee.
 
FEST is currently looking for:

  • 1st and 2nd Features Films (Fiction & Documentary);
  • Short Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental Non-Narrative films from directors up to the age of 35;
In this Early Bird period, short film submissions have a cost of 4 euros and feature film submissions have a cost of 8 euros.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

FEST New Directors | New Films Festival
 is focused on creating a space for up-and-coming filmmakers to show and promote their work, to develop their skills, offering new opportunities, and the chance to develop new audiences for independent cinema.

The selection is divided into several competitive sections, each with a different focus:
GOLDEN LYNX – Fiction and Documentary Feature Film Competition
SILVER LYNX – Fiction, Documentary, Experimental and Animation Short Film Competition
NEXXT – Academic Short Film Competition
FESTinha – Children and youth Feature and Short Film Competition.
NATIONAL GRAND PRIX - Portuguese Short Film Competition

When and Where?
The event will take place between the 21st to the 28th of June 2021, in Espinho, a beachside city and one of the summer hotspots of Portugal, 15 minutes south of Porto along the sea coastline.
FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival is nowadays one of the most important cultural events in Portugal, a great opportunity and an excellent forum for the new Filmmakers who wishes to establish himself in this industry.
 
Running parallel to the Festival, we also host the FEST Industry Meetings (for one on one meeting with Film Producers), FEST - Training Ground (A high-level film training program) and FEST - Pitching Forum, that connects filmmakers with producers and financiers

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

We are accepting films under the following formats:
A) Fiction and Non-Fiction Feature Films (minimum length is 55 minutes) from directors who are on their first or second feature-length project, regardless of age.

B) Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental Short Films (up to 54 minutes of duration) from directors up to the age of 35 (including) at the last day of production.
Submissions will only be considered complete and valid after the confirmation of the payment of a fee of 10 euros for Feature films and 6 euros for Short films. You can take advantage of the Early bird period, where submission of a Feature Film is 8 Euros and Short Films 4 Euros.

Early bird Submission deadline is November 5th 2020.
