TAP Portugal will start operations to Manaus (Amazonia) and Belem (Para), in Northern Brazil, as of June 3rd 2014. With this addition, the company increases to 12 the number of destinations served in Brazil, thereby reinforcing its positioning as the world's leading airline in operation to that South American country. To date, six months ahead of the inauguration of the new route, TAP already records 6,011 reservations.

The new operation will begin with three weekly frequencies, on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, with flights operating Lisbon - Manaus - Belem - Lisbon, thus allowing TAP to enter the Amazonia region for the first time and provide customers with direct connections from its Lisbon hub in Europe to two Brazilian regions - Amazonia and Para - with great tourism potential, economic and historic interest and a lot to offer to international travellers.

Flights will depart Lisbon at 09:30, arrive in Manaus at 13:40 and from then on to Belem one hour later, where arrival is due at 17:40 (local time), while on return, flights depart Belem at 19:10 and arrive Lisbon early morning at 06:45 (following day).

This new route will not only allow TAP to capture direct traffic flying between Europe and Northern Brazil but also to offer customers an improved service in the whole as it will increase the seat availability in flights to other destinations in Brazil, which are currently fully booked due to growing demand.

As a coincidence, Manaus will be one of the Brazilian cities to host several matches of the World's Cup, which will be held from June 12 to July 13 next year in Brazil.
