The board of Swedish clean tech company Ripasso Energy AB has resolved to propose to the General Assembly on 26 April that the company changes its name to Swedish Stirling AB. The reason for the proposal is that the company expects to achieve a commercial breakthrough in the coming years.

The board of Swedish clean tech company Ripasso Energy AB believes that the company will achieve a commercial breakthrough over the next few years. In view of this, the board is proposing to the General Assembly that the company changes its name to Swedish Stirling, which more clearly describes the company's business.

“We are a Swedish company in a global market that uses Stirling technology to develop cost-effective and climate-friendly solutions for power generation. The name Swedish Stirling effectively sums up what we do, and the time is right to make the change,” says Sven Sahle, Chairman of the Board and largest shareholder of Ripasso Energy.

Ripasso Energy AB was founded in 2008 by Gunnar Larsson, the former CEO of Kockums. Since its inception, the company's ambition has been to develop the incomparable ability of Stirling technology to convert thermal energy to electricity, and to harness this potential for commercial use. The company has a perpetual license to the world-class Kockums Stirling engine, and has further refined the technology in the years since it was founded.

In September 2017, the company launched the PWR BLOK 400-F – a unique container-based solution in which Ripasso Energy’s Stirling engines are used to extract energy from residual and flare gases in industrial applications. The product enables significant energy savings and cost reductions, while also significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The technology can be used with combustible residual gases in a number of different industries and applications. There are potential customers all over the world. Initially, the company has prioritised the South African ferrochrome industry.

“We have refined Stirling technology and created an attractive clean tech product in the form of the PWR BLOK. The time has come to develop and build a Swedish global clean tech company with a good reputation and a strong brand. The company's name is an important part of that effort. Swedish Stirling AB will make industrial history,” says Gunnar Larsson, CEO of Ripasso Energy.
