Franklin, Kentucky/Mannheim, Germany, January 18, 2021 – Global film solutions provider RKW is revamping its North American activities with an eye to significantly strengthening its presence in the region’s markets. After considerable investments into its site in Franklin, Kentucky, over the last two years, the company is now reorganizing its leadership team. The management board has appointed Scott Bober Vice President of Sales & Marketing, in charge of commercial operations RKW’s North American business. The growth strategy for the region includes an increased focus on sustainability.

The Franklin site was the target of the largest investments in the company’s history over the course of 2019 and 2020. Their goal: implementing state-of-the-art technologies, expanding production capacities, optimizing logistics and the offering of new solutions. A new, 2,800 m² production and storage facility, and the commissioning of state-of-the-art multilayer extrusion and printing assets have laid the foundation for growth. “We have enjoyed solid customer relationships in North America for years, yet up to now, have not truly taken advantage of the high-potential market there,” says Roger Chantillon, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing of RKW. “We intend to change that.”

Scott Bober brings to the table his considerable expertise in leading sales and marketing functions for specialized materials at companies like Honeywell, BOC Gases, A.J. Oster, and Mauser Packaging Solutions. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing in Mauser’s North American business for bulk packaging. Moreover, he has been active in the consumer packaged goods industry with technical and operational functions at General Foods, Cadbury Schweppes Beverages, and Colgate-Palmolive. Mr. Bober holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Columbia Business School. The U.S. native will steer the region’s sales, marketing, customer service, and engineering departments.

Sustainability provides new growth impetus

RKW’s growth strategy involves sustainable solutions in all business segments. For example, the usage of recycled material is being increased in our product portfolio, and films for the development of mono material packaging solutions that are easier to recycle are being introduced. “We can utilize Europe’s experience-based advantage here in North America for marketing the more sustainable products in our portfolio,” says Bober. “That certainly contributes to positioning RKW as an innovative, solution-oriented provider of excellent sustainable film solutions.”
