Scandic invites guests to digital in-room entertainment

Scandic is replacing 25,000 old TVs with new, low-energy, ecolabelled LED TV screens from Philips. Enjoy pin-sharp picture quality and a newly expanded range of viewing choices, including free film and sports channels. The guests can connect the computer, phone or tablet to the TV or insert the memory stick in the TV’s USB port to listen to music or watch film. The roll-out has begun in Sweden and by the end of 2014 over 25,000 LED TVs will be installed at all Scandic’s hotels across nine countries.

-       The new LED screens offer our guest’s superb entertainment and the freedom to access exactly what they want. We’ve managed to make it really easy without having to wade through a sea of settings. The new entertainment system also gives us the scope to add more, themed or seasonal channels in the future, states Johan Michelson, head of product development at Scandic.

Replacing 25,000 old TVs and upgrading the entertainment on offer at 160 hotels in nine countries is a major undertaking that will have numerous positive effects. For guests, who have come to expect a wonderfully relaxing stay from Scandic, the benefits are clear: an improved range of channels, including film and sport from C More in HD, and every opportunity to enjoy the music and films that the guest loves.

Feel at home across the Nordic region
The standard range comprises the most popular TV channels for each country, including a sports channel, a film channel, a children’s channel and an international news channel.

To create the homely feel that Scandic is renowned for, there is also one Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish channel at every Nordic hotel, in addition to the standard offering – ensuring that Scandic’s Nordic guests will always feel right at home across the region.
