Software developed by Zenuity, the assisted and autonomous driving software development company, will lie at the heart of two of the most exciting cars to be presented at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas – the alluring new all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV and the sleek Polestar 2, the newly-launched fully-electric performance car.

Being fully electric, both cars are at the forefront of automotive technology, but they also help redefine traditional motoring by offering ground-breaking user interface experiences and the latest and one of the safest advanced assisted driving technologies and features.

“These are two of the most anticipated and attractive cars on show at CES and it is highly significant that both of them are running on a Zenuity software platform to provide next generation assisted driving,” said Dennis Nobelius, Zenuity’s chief executive. “Together, we’re at the forefront of how cars are changing.”

Zenuity is a joint venture between Volvo Cars and Veoneer, two Swedish companies, both of which are renowned globally for their advanced technological capabilities and commitment to automotive safety.

Formed just two and a half years ago, Zenuity has built a global customer base of multinational OEMs based out of Europe the US and China, the world’s largest car markets.

The Polestar 2 is the first car in production with the new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor platform with software developed by Zenuity and hardware from Veoneer.

Polestar is a joint venture electric performance car company owned by Volvo Cars and Zhejiang Geely Holdings. Polestar 2 will be shown at the Veoneer booth, Platinum Lot, Booth #PL1.

The same technology will be available on the battery-powered XC40, and the first Volvo model out with this new ADAS system.

Full details of the ADAS features available to drivers will be made available at CES,

but the new ADAS platform on both cars is a modern, scalable active safety system that consists of an array of radars and cameras.

Because of its scalable nature it can easily be developed further and lays the foundation for the future introduction of autonomous drive technology.
