Sivers IMA Holdings AB (Nasdaq First North: SIVE) wholly-owned subsidiary CST Global today announced that samples of its next generation DFB lasers are now available in standard, TO-56 Can packaging which allows vendors to test products for the next design cycle. The lasers address the fast-growing, XGS-PON part of the Fibre-To-The Home (FTTH) market.

“Currently, XGS-PON makes up less than 10 percent of the total FTTH market, but estimates show XGS-PON may exceed 40 percent of the total FTTH market by 2023 and our lasers are aimed at that fast-growing, XGS-PON part of the market”, said Euan Livingston, VP Sales and Marketing at CST Global.

The 1270nm, 10Gb/s and 2.5Gb/s synchronous DFB lasers are developed by UK’s leading, independent, III-V opto-electronic, semiconductor foundry CST Global.

“Our next generation 1270nm laser chips in TO Cans address worldwide FTTH demand. The TO Can format allows vendors to test standard products for the next design cycle and meet production demand during 2020”, said Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers IMA.

The FTTH-market is valued at USD7.3bn in 2019, with a CAGR exceeding 7 percent. The 1270nm / 10Gb/s lasers also support 10G-EPON, FTTH applications and the 1270nm / 2.5Gb/s lasers support 10G-GPON applications. Together, these make up around 10 percent of the worldwide FTTH market.

CST Global will present the lasers at the OFC, Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition, in San Diego, March 3-7, 2019.

Estimates of market size and growth are taken from S&P Global Market Intelligence; Technology, Media & Telecoms report 2017.
