Sweco wins contract from Swedish National Grid

Sweco has been chosen to plan a new power transmission line between the cities of Hallsberg and Nässjö in Sweden. The 170 km line is part of the SydVästlänken infrastructure project. The contract is worth over EUR 1.1 million for Sweco.

“We are very pleased to have once again been chosen to work with the Swedish National Grid and the current reinforcement of the power grid in southern Sweden,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sweden. The planned alternating current line will have a system voltage of 400 kV. Work will begin immediately and several of Sweco’s consultants in the area of energy, infrastructure and structural engineering will be involved in the assignment, which is scheduled for completion before mid-year 2010. Facts: The aim of SydVästlänken is to reinforce the alternating current grid, increase security of supply and reduce transmission bottlenecks to southern Sweden and between Norway and Sweden. SydVästlänken is also vital for the planned large-scale expansion of wind power that is part of Sweden’s climate policy. Sweco’s services include positioning and coordinate plotting of the line, site investigations, profile drawings based on digital field data, technical specifications, type drawings and load diagrams for each pole type and design. The contract also includes preparation of tender and construction documents for the contracting phase.
