TeliaSonera International Carrier provides its Media Distribution Service consisting of a unique content publishing platform, to the MidSweden University and the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden arranging a unique virtual conference with this year’s Nobel Prize in physics as a theme with lectures on the fiber optic capabilities.

The conference is done via telepresence, with the speakers live at MidSweden University in Sundsvall - but seen as a "hologram" by students at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. TeliaSonera International Carrier will through the Media Distribution Service offer the lectures online to schools throughout Sweden via large screens or Web TV. Online learning is growing fast. Many specialized universities now have more online students than the ones on campus and are recruiting online students from all around the world. The global demand for academic degrees is insatiable, especially from the most respected institutions. So far many users have regarded online learning as a second-class solution. This is largely a consequence of shortcomings in networking technology – which are particularly acute when the student is far away from the learning provider. -TeliaSonera International Carrier has a vast experience with the education community and has helped build some of the world’s most powerful academic and research networks. Today, we use our resources and expertise to build top-quality online learning networks, improving the quality of experience for students everywhere”, says Anna Mossberg, Vice President and Head of Product & Business Management, TeliaSonera International Carrier. TeliaSonera International Carrier network is engineered to deliver rich media to users anywhere. We are the leading supplier of content management platforms for Web-TV, IPTV, and mobile video, ideally suited to the media needs of today’s virtual campuses. “We have optimized the network to support real-time collaboration between users. It means that online students and teachers will be able to get together socially and share the learning experience in a highdefinition environment. We can connect the virtual campus servers directly to our backbone network nodes, and complete the offer with hosting and managed services if required. All of which leaves the universities free to focus on their core business: creating and packaging compelling online learning content, and serving it to enthusiastic, motivated learners all over the world” continues Anna Mossberg.
