Veidekke Entreprenad AB, Region Anläggning Öst (Eastern Construction Region) has been chosen by AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) for the Tvärbanan light rail extension, Solna branch, Phase 1. The job is a collaborative performance contract valued at SEK 440 million. Work will begin in August 2009 and take approximately two years.

Along the 2-3 km Alvik-Ulvsunda segment, an approximately 650 m long tunnel will be built in bedrock under Traneberg, a 550 m bridge over Ulvsunda, a trough/concrete tunnel under Norrbyvägen and four grade-level stops. On this segment the railway will run on a dedicated roadbed. In Alvik the segment in question will connect with the existing railway. Furthermore, a connection to Ulvsunda depot will be included.

-          Getting to work with SL on this big project will be interesting and challenging, and we are very happy about the trust placed in us to build Phase 1 in partnership with SL. Moreover, it feels good to get to be a part of it and help to improve crosstown transport between Bromma and Solna for residents of the Stockholm region, says  Per Brinck, regional head, Veidekke Entreprenad AB, Region Anläggning Öst.
