Veidekke to build new intersection in Stockholm

Veidekke Entreprenad AB, region Anläggning Öst, has been awarded the contract by Vägverket to build a new intersection at Rinkeby. The contract, with a value of SEK 319 million, is a part of Vägverket's work on the E18, Stockholm's western approach road.

The stretch between Hjulsta and Kista is currently prone to accidents and the road's poor capacity leads to long queues in rush traffic. As many as 50,000 vehicles a day use certain sections of the road.

Work on the new intersection at Rinkeby starts in January 2010 and will be completed in 2013. The contract includes ground and bridge building work and will take place on and next to the existing E18 road and other roads in the construction area.

"We are very happy with the contract! Previously this year we gained the trust of Vägverket on preparatory work to enable the remodelling of the current E 18 between Hjulsta and Rinkeby. The fact that we now are awarded another contract in the comprehensive rehabilitation of the road is encouraging and is viewed as evidence that Vägverket has confidence in us as a contractor," says Department Manager Marcus Nilsson.
