Veidekke to build school and swimming facility in Bergen

Hordaland Municipal County and Bergen Kommunale Bygg have awarded Veidekke Entreprenør AS the contract to build the Amalie Skram upper secondary school and a new facility for swimming and diving. The value of the contract is more than NOK 300 million excluding VAT.


The Amalie Skram upper secondary school will accommodate 900 students and 125 employees. The school building will include a canteen, sports hall, auditorium, school library and administration offices. The swimming facility will satisfy international championship requirements and will consist of four pools and a diving facility, 50-metre pool and a therapy pool. The whole project will have an area of 28,000 square metres, with 16,000 square metres for the school and approx. 12,000 square metres for the swimming facility. The school and swimming facility will be built at Nygårdstangen in the centre of Bergen.


Veidekke will carry out all concrete work including walls and surfaces, steel work with columns, beams and frames, roof constructions with covering and interior and exterior walls. Tiling of the diving and swimming facility is also included in the contract. Veidekke starts work in May 2010 and work is to be concluded in the summer of 2012.
