CEDIA RELEASES “USING MOBILE DEVICES AS A CONTROL PLATFORM” WHITE PAPER
CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) has released the third white paper in its Mobile Devices in Residential Systems Integration series which is now available to companies throughout Region 1 (UK, Europe, Russia and the CIS, Middle East, India, Pakistan and Africa).
This new white paper, Using Mobile Devices as a Control Platform, discusses the current landscape of using mobile devices for integrated system control applications and provides system designers and technicians with guidance on design considerations in integration and automation with mobile devices.
Mobile devices have become a ubiquitous part of everyday life. High-end and budget-conscious consumers alike are increasingly requesting their mobile devices be integrated into their automation systems, making it necessary for electronic system professionals (ESPs) to adapt and learn to properly integrate mobile devices within the home.
“Many consumers want to use a device they are familiar with, such as a smart phone or tablet to control their home,” explains Dave Pedigo, CEDIA Senior Director of Technology and Learning. “This can sometimes be challenging for the ESP to integrate, but the considerations outlined in this white paper can help dealers create a seamless control experience.”
The new Using Mobile Devices as a Control Platform white paper is available free of charge for CEDIA members and to non-members at a price of £5.99, via the CEDIA education website: http://www.cediaeducation.com/resources/whitepapers.
“Over 1500 white papers have been downloaded so far,” adds Matt Dodd, CEDIA’s Education Chair. “This is proving a popular way to help the industry and our members access key information on new technologies and developments in the residential custom installation sector. All the content is high quality and put together by industry professionals and experts from within the global CEDIA organisation.”
Also available via the website are CEDIA’s nineteen other white papers, including the two other documents covering the Mobile Devices in Residential Systems Integration series: Ten Steps to Creating a Robust Wireless Environment for Mobile Device Integration and The Business Case: Why Your Business Needs an Enterprise-Grade Wireless Infrastructure Strategy.
