Eurovia Roadstone awarded by MPA
Eurovia Roadstone received a ‘Special Award’ in this year’s Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health and Safety Conference and Awards, which took place on Tuesday 13 November at BAFTA in London.
The MPA, of which Eurovia Roadstone is a member, is the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, concrete, cement, line, mortar and silica sand industries and holds a Health & Safety Conference and Awards each year. The theme for the 2012 event was ‘Delivering Safer by Partnership and Inspiring Excellence’ to celebrate and share outstanding examples of best practice by MPA members, in order to inspire and help the industry to achieve the highest standards in health and safety.
Ian Burrows, Eurovia Roadstone’s Operations Manager, attended the event together with Dave Jones, Eurovia Roadstone’s Technical Manager, to collect the award which was presented by keynote speaker Dr Steve Peters, the psychiatrist behind the winning Olympic GB cycling team.
After collecting the award, Ian said: “We are obviously delighted to have our commitment and good record in Health and Safety recognised by the Mineral Products Association. We have been a member of the association for some years and this is the first time we have won an award.”
Seventy-eight organisations, including members, contractors and other key stakeholders from the length and breadth of the UK came together to recognise, reward and share best practice, progress and results in health and safety. Overall, the awards attracted 142 entries from 32 member companies, with a significant proportion of submissions provided by companies with less than 1,000 direct employees.
