mclcreate proudly supported its client, Royal Mail Group (RMG), during an historic visit from Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to RMG’s Windsor Delivery office on Wednesday 20th April.

The Royal visit marked the unveiling of a new name for the Windsor Delivery Office, now The Queen Elizabeth Delivery Office, as part of the Queen’s 90thbirthday celebrations and the 500thanniversary of the postal service.  Accompanied on an extensive tour of the office by Royal Mail’s Chief Executive, Moya Greene, Chairman, Peter Long and Delivery Office Manager, Andrew Roeton, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh met and talked with many RMG employees as part of the visit. They also took the opportunity to see, for the first time, printed versions of a Royal Mail Special Stamp issue, celebrating The Queen’s landmark birthday.

With this prestigious event taking place under the critical eye of an enthusiastic public and the world’s media, RMG relied on mclcreate to ensure that the tour looked visually impressive from a branding perspective but also ran smoothly, safely and successfully for all concerned.

“We were honoured that Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited The Queen Elizabeth Delivery Office to celebrate 500 years of the postal service.  Royal Mail is incredibly proud of its Royal associations and we were delighted to wish Her Majesty a very happy 90th birthday in person,” said a spokesperson for RMG’s events team. “We would like to thank mclcreate for their creativity, calm management under pressure and the great event support they provided throughout the project to help make the day such a memorable success.”

“mclcreate are thrilled to have partnered with RMG to create and deliver such a momentous event in honour of Her Majesty the Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh,” added Alex Page, Senior Account Manager at mclcreate. “Working with RMG, we were able to provide a complete event management service for this very special occasion that met the inevitable creative, logistical and security challenges demanded by such a project. This was a proud, proud day both for RMG and mclcreate.”

Working within a tight six week deadline, mclcreate provided a full service solution including event design, production, management, equipment supply, on-site support, registration, delegate logistics and welfare. The company not only partnered closely with RMG to ensure the event ran to perfection but also diligently navigated relationships and requirements with all interested parties, including the Royal Protection team, security services and the local authority throughout the project to ensure its ultimate success.

mclcreate designed and implemented RMG’s theme, “Celebrating 500 years of Royal Mail” against the organisation’s vibrant, royal red to create an impressive branded entrance for the royal party into the Queen Elizabeth Delivery Office. They extended this theme across branded flags, including a special Union Jack for the flagpole at the front of the office, bunting and umbrellas, on hand just in case the weather intervened on the day!

Inside the Delivery Office, mclcreate designed and created three graphics walls for a display, showing artefacts and photographs which documented the 500 year history of Royal Mail and included the last 50 years of Special Stamps. mclcreate also provided the showcase for The Queen’s 90th Anniversary stamps and a stylish, commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

mclcreate created and supplied the staging and PA for the Royal Mail choirs who greeted the Queen with “Please Mr Postman” on arrival and marked her departure with a rendition of “Happy Birthday” on departure. This proved an especially difficult challenge for the on-site technical team since the choir’s location was directly underneath the Heathrow flight path! mclcreate also built a temporary raised platform to accommodate the 54 members the of global media covering the event.

Everything on this complex project was managed and achieved as RMG continued its normal day to day operations at the Delivery Office and while significant renovation works to upgrade the building were taking place.
