Vein Illumination Leader Will Be Recognized at Edison Awards Event

Long Island, New York (April 2, 2013) – AccuVein Inc. (www.accuvein.com) has been named a 2013 Award Finalist in the internationally renowned Edison Awards™ Competition.  The Edison awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Alva Edison, inspiring creative minds to remain in the forefront of innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy.

The AccuVein AV400 vein illumination device helps healthcare professionals locate veins by displaying a map of the patient’s vasculature directly on the surface of the skin. Locating peripheral vasculature is invaluable in many medical procedures that require vein access or avoidance. Accessing a vein for IV starts, blood draw and sclerotherapy procedures, as well as avoiding veins in surgery and cosmetic procedures, are all important applications of the device.

“More than any year, this year’s slate of Finalists demonstrate the enormous value of teamwork, experimentation, consumer focus, market awareness and game-changing success,” said Frank Bonafilia, Edison Awards’ executive director.  “It’s exciting to see companies like AccuVein continuing Thomas Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking.”

“Vein illumination from AccuVein continues to be adopted worldwide as a vein visualization tool to reduce error, reduce cost and increase patient satisfaction,” said AccuVein Vice President of Marketing, Vinny Luciano.  “Our selection as an Edison Award finalist further validates the AV400 as the vein illumination tool of choice.”

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards is judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the nation, whose votes acknowledge the Finalists’ success in meeting the award criteria of Concept, Value, Delivery and Impact.

Award winners will be announced April 25, 2013 at the Edison Awards Annual Gala, held in the Grand Ballroom at historic Navy Pier in Chicago, IL.

The Edison Awards is a program conducted by Edison Universe, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to fostering future innovators.  The 2013 Edison Awards are sponsored by Nielsen, Discovery Communications, Science Channel, and USA Today.   For more information about the Edison Awards, Edison Universe and a list of past winners, visit http://www.edisonawards.com.
