Acta CEO Anne P. Schelle Named to Mobile Marketing Association Board
Washington, DC, June 11, 2012 – Anne P. Schelle, who has been at the forefront of many seminal moments in the development of the wireless industry, has been named to the North American board of directors of the Mobile Marketing Association. Schelle is currently CEO and partner at Acta Wireless, a leading early-stage investment and strategic advisory firm headquartered here.
Schelle headed up a new division at the trade association PCIA dedicated to ushering in the digital cellular revolution, then known as PCS (Personal Communications Services). She moved on to a leadership position at the nation’s first digital cellular network, American Personal Communications, serving the Washington-Baltimore area, and currently serves as executive director at the Open Mobile Video Coalition. The OMVC is spearheading the drive to establish Mobile Digital Television in the U.S.
“We hear the term ‘wireless pioneer’ often in this business, and it usually means an engineer or entrepreneur associated with some technical development,” commented Michael Becker, managing director, North America, of MMA. “Anne is a wireless pioneer who continued to play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in numerous landmark business and policy advances. We look forward to her contributions on the MMA board.”
Schelle leads operations at Acta, whose practice areas of Mobile Internet, Mobile Media, Mobile Commerce and Transaction Services intersect with the MMA’s mission. Acta has a staff of more than 60 professionals and offices in Charlotte, NC, San Diego, CA and Montreal, Canada. Schelle has more than 20 years experience in operations, business development and legislative/regulatory sectors of the wireless and related industries. She serves on the advisory board of the Mobile Giving Foundation and the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering’s Part Time Program in Engineering and Applied Science. She and her family reside in the Washington-Baltimore area.
The Mobile Marketing Association is the premier global non-profit trade association representing all players in the mobile marketing value chain. Its primary focus is to establish mobile as an indispensable part of the marketing mix.
