Aesculap Implant Systems is pleased to announce the launch of its newly-enhanced comprehensive Patient Education Website, www.soactivesofast.com. Created with the patient in mind, the website features valuable information for effective patient/physician dialogue including spine, knee and hip joint anatomy, common diseases that could affect these areas including causes and symptoms, as well as the diagnostic process. Also included are treatment options such as non-surgical pain management strategies and in-depth information about surgical replacement procedures.

Visitors will also find information on the activL Artificial Disc Reimbursement Resource Line, designed to help surgeons and their patients successfully navigate lumbar total disc replacement (TDR). Case-by-case pre-authorization is critical for lumbar TDR, whether or not the patient’s payer has existing policies in place. The Resource Line offers reimbursement information to motion preservation surgeons and their patients and is staffed by experienced coders who can help low back pain sufferers navigate their coverage policies. The activL Artificial Disc Reimbursement Resource Line is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm EST.

“Lumbar Total Disc Replacement is no longer an investigational technology,” said Scott Blumenthal, MD of the Texas Back Institute (Plano, TX), who performed the first artificial disc replacement (ADR) in the US more than 15 years ago. “Guiding patients to experienced arthroplasty surgeons can increase patient access to lumbar TDR.”
