Aktia's Board of Supervisors appointed Dag Wallgren as new Chairman of the Board

At a meeting on 10 December 2009, the Board of Supervisors of Aktia plc
appointed the current Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dag Wallgren, to
new Chairman of the Board. Further, Nils Lampi was appointed as new member of
the Board. 

The present Chairman of the Board, Kaj-Gustaf Bergh, had declined re-election.
Mr. Bergh has been a member of the Board of Aktia since 2003. 

- During Kaj-Gustaf Bergh's chairmanship, Aktia has reached the strategic goals
set when he started as Chairman in the turn of 2004-2005: the acquisition of
Veritas Life Insurance Company, the merger with Veritas Non-Life Insurance and
the listing of Aktia plc on the Stock Exchange. Thus, his period as Chairman
was a very successful one, says Henry Wiklund, Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors. 

Following the age clause in the Articles of association, Lars-Olof Hammarén
resigns from the Board of Directors. 

All other members of the Board were re-elected, and Nina Wilkman, who is a
member of the Board, was appointed as new Vice Chairman of the Board. All
elections are for the period 1 January - 31 December 2010. 

Nils Lampi, born 1948, lives in Mariehamn and is CEO of Wiklöf Holding Ab since
1992.
