Alfa Laval signs joint marketing agreement with Millipore

Alfa Laval, a world leader in centrifugal separation, heat transfer and fluid
handling, and Millipore Corporation, a multinational bioscience company, today
announced a USA joint marketing agreement for Alfa Laval's high-speed
biotechnology centrifuges and Millipore's multi-layer Millistak+® HC depth
filters. This integration of equipment will allow the efficient recovery of
biopharmaceutical proteins generated by cell culture and fermentation.

"The first steps in drug recovery after a bioreactor are often the most
challenging and require a series of centrifugation and filtration steps. By
combining our knowledge with Millipore's we are able to offer our customers with
an optimal solution for primary recovery," says Kirk Spitzer, President of Alfa
Laval Inc. the U.S. subsidiary of the Alfa Laval Group.

Under the terms of the agreement, each company will exclusively promote the
other company's products to customers requiring centrifugation and depth
filtration. Furthermore, this partnership encompasses assistance with sales
activities, preparation and publication of technical articles, joint field-
testing and customer demonstrations of this centrifugation and depth filtration
combination.

"The expertise from both companies will speed the drug development process and
enhance customer process economics. Integrating and optimizing the key
technologies of centrifugal separation and depth filtration will improve
customers' process efficiency, lower capital costs and reduce operating costs,"
says Susan Vogt, President of Millipore's Biopharmaceutical Division.
