CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carolina Cat, a division of Carolina Tractor, has joined the Alliance AutoGas network to help fleets in western North Carolina switch to more affordable, clean, American-made propane autogas. Carolina Cat will perform EPA-certified autogas vehicle conversions using the bi-fuel Prins VSI autogas system, which is distributed exclusively in the U.S. by Alliance AutoGas.

“We pride ourselves on providing customers the lowest total owning and operating costs for their equipment, which is why providing propane autogas conversions made sense,” says Kim Misenar, General Service Manager of Carolina Cat. “Switching to autogas has an extremely low overhead cost compared to other alternative fuels—and that goes for both conversions and installing a fuel station. In fact, fleets that convert through Alliance AutoGas can make the switch at no upfront cost.”

U.S. autogas fleets currently save around $1.80 per gallon filling up with autogas instead of gasoline. Not only is autogas more economical than gasoline, it’s also a cleaner fuel, so propane-powered vehicles need less maintenance and the engines last longer. And with the bi-fuel Prins VSI system, fleets enjoy peace of mind and increased vehicle range because the system switches automatically back to gasoline if the autogas fuel tank runs out. The kits can also be moved from retiring vehicles to newer ones with very little vehicle downtime.

“Alliance AutoGas conversion centers like Carolina Cat provide fleets with the most dependable, technologically advanced and cost-effective alternative fuel solution on the market,” says Stuart Weidie, president of Alliance AutoGas and founder of Autogas for America. “Prins is the worldwide leader in alternative fuel engine technology, and Alliance is proud to be the exclusive U.S. distributor of Prins autogas systems.”

The Alliance AutoGas complete program for fleets includes autogas vehicle conversions, fueling, fuel station installation, staff safety training and ongoing technical support. Autogas is also the most widely used alternative fuel in the world, and 98 percent of the U.S. autogas supply is made in America.

Family-owned for three generations, Carolina Cat has five vehicle service shops in North Carolina, including Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Monroe, and Statesville. These locations all have mobile service vehicles equipped to install and service propane-equipped vehicles at the customer’s place of business. Carolina Cat works on all types of commercial vehicles, including light to heavy trucks, emergency vehicles, RV’s and buses. The company is a member of industry organizations such as North Carolina Trucking Association Maintenance Council, Caterpillar Dealer Advisory Teams, Used Truck Association, North Carolina Association of Electrical Contractors, and the North Carolina Nursery and Landscaping Association. Carolina Cat is also a corporate partner with United Way, March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Visit www.carolinacat.com for more information.
