America's best known travel experts re-launch new Frommer's EasyGuides and Day by Day Guides

Frommer's Media, the nation's foremost authority on leisure travel, today announced that travel experts Arthur Frommer and Pauline Frommer will embark on a cross-country book tour to promote the re-launch of their iconic Travel Guides.  The book tour is being sponsored by Allianz Global Assistance, a leading travel insurance provider.  The travel gurus will visit local book stores and talk about the hottest travel trends, including:  "Top Vacation Spots for 2014," "Ways to avoid skyrocketing airfare costs," and "Best places for family travel."

Arthur Frommer literally invented the modern travel guide with his seminal book, Europe on 5 Dollars a Day.  He and his daughter, Pauline, a well known and respected travel expert in her own right, earlier this year reacquired the rights to publish the famed guides that bear their names.  They also oversee Frommers.com, a highly trafficked website with travel tips, deals, and other information.

“We’re honored to be sponsoring the tour that will re-launch the world famous Frommer’s travel guides,” said Joe Mason, chief marketing officer at Allianz Global Assistance USA.  “With a Frommer’s travel guide in one hand and an Allianz Travel Insurance policy in the other, travelers can explore the world knowing they are backed by the best in the travel industry.”

The Frommers have published 30 new travel guides for 2014 in two formats: 20 EasyGuides, and 10 Day by Day Guides, available in both print and eBook versions.  The EasyGuides are readily portable, 256-page books that include a full scale map and retail for $10.95.  The classic Day by Day Guides feature  full-color glossy photographs and detailed descriptions and advice on hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions and activities at some of the world's most popular destinations.

Arthur Frommer was stationed with the U.S. Army in Europe in the early 1950s because of his fluency in German and Russian.  In 1955, he self-published The GI's Guide to Traveling In Europe that became an instant hit.  Two years later, he wrote Europe on 5 Dollars a Day, an overnight best seller.  Frommer subsequently published guidebooks covering all parts of the globe and licensed the series to Simon & Schuster in 1977.  After the series changed hands over the years, Frommer reacquired control of the brand  in 2013 and is again self-publishing his iconic travel books.  He writes a nationally  syndicated travel column through King Features with his daughter Pauline Frommer, with whom he also co-hosts a weekly syndicated radio show, "The Travel Show with Arthur & Pauline Frommer."

Pauline Frommer started traveling with parents at the age of four months and hasn't stopped since.  Currently Editor in Chief of Frommers.com, she served as Travel Editor for MSNBC.com and created the award-winning Pauline Frommer Guidebooks, a 14-book series that three times won the "Best Guidebook of the Year" from the North American Travel Journalists Association and once from the Society of American Travel Writers.  She also hosted weekly travel segments for CNN's Headline News and talked about travel on The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, The O'Reilly Factor, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News, Good Morning America, and on countless local stations.  Her writings have been widely published in everything from Budget Travel Magazine to the Dallas Morning News to Nick, Jr. magazine.
