Agreement will bring e-health resources to physicians to enhance patient care and office efficiency

DETROIT – Nov. 30, 2011 – The DMC PHO, a physician-hospital organization with ties to Detroit Medical Center, announced plans today to team with Amagine, Inc., a subsidiary of the American Medical Association (AMA), to bring advanced electronic health resources to medical practices throughout southeastern Michigan.

Physicians affiliated with DMC PHO will now have access to AMA ePrescribe, an electronic prescribing tool powered by Allscripts that sends prescriptions to pharmacies instantly, helping physicians improve patient care, simplify office workflow and provide instant checks on drug interactions, dosage levels and adverse reactions. DocSite, a registry powered by Covisint that allows physicians to manage chronic, complex and preventive health needs for individual patients or entire patient populations, is also available.

The technology and tools offered by Amagine will help medical practices qualify for various state and local pay-for-performance programs, as well as federal incentive programs that supports greater use of health information technology.

“The DMC PHO goal is to provide the health care professionals and the patients they serve the ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate patient care in the most effective manner,” said DMC PHO Executive Director Steven D. Grant, M.D. “We believe that Amagine’s technology best serves our immediate and long-term needs.”

“Amagine is committed to helping the DMC PHO enhance patient care and streamline the clinical and business functions of physician offices by providing access to modular electronic health records and a variety of clinical decision support tools,” said Robert Musacchio, Ph.D., senior vice president, AMA Business Product Solutions.

Amagine’s physician portal provides a single point of access to more than 30 solutions designed to enhance efficiency in a medical office, including tools that support electronic medical records, claims management, and point-of-care clinical decisions. DMC PHO affiliated medical practices will have access to Amagine’s secure communication services that enable HIPAA-compliant messaging from the Detroit Medical Center and among practices within the network.

Amagine’s physician portal uses the cloud computing platform provider, Covisint, a Compuware Company. The Covisint ExchangeLink platform helps improve care delivery by increasing access to information at the point of care and by providing the secure infrastructure enabling physicians to share health information.
