Cartridge World Sudbury is backing the UK’s first motor-racing team created to run its cars with a carbon zero policy.

Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is in 5th position in the BTCC Independent Teams standings (6th overall) after making its mark on the Championship and not on the environment in the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The team is now gearing up to head to Snetterton race circuit for round six on Sunday 2nd August. Cartridge World Sudbury has proved that its refilled cartridges are equal to the originals for quality and performance, and now the racing team that carries its name is proving to be equally competitive, as are the bio-ethanol powered SEATs, which dramatically reduce emissions compared to their petrol powered rivals. Driver Adam Jones is 5th in the Independent Drivers Championship (7th overall) while Dan Eaves in 12th (15th overall). The striking yellow and green Cartridge World livery is easy to spot for fans and competitors alike during the 30-race season, which receives live TV coverage on ITV4. Neil Summers of Cartridge World Sudbury said: “Our sponsorship of the team highlights the connection between the cleaner, greener alternative of using refilled printer cartridges from Cartridge World and the use of bio-fuels by the Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing team. Both Cartridge World and Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing offer the environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on performance or quality.” Fans are offered the chance to offset their own road-going vehicles CO2 emissions when driving to and from the BTCC rounds. By visiting the team website at www.cartridgeworldcarbonzeroracing.com fans can click on ‘Emissions Calculator’ to calculate and ‘neutralise’ their emissions by making a donation to support various environmental projects in conjunction with the team’s carbon-offsetting partner co2balance. Neil Summers of Cartridge World Sudbury added: “We look forward to the next race at Snetterton and hope our customers and team fans will come out to the track and join us in our support of Dan, Adam and Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing.” ENDS Notes to Editors: Cartridge World has over 250 stores in the UK. It was launched in Australia in 1988 and now operates more than 1,600 franchises in over 50 countries worldwide. Over 45 million empty printer cartridges are sent to landfill in the UK each year*. Cartridge World promotes the refilling and reuse of printer cartridges as a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly alternative to sending them to landfill.
