Over 160 startups and growth companies from 18 countries applied to meet some of the biggest media companies in Europe.

Media companies around the world could benefit from startups when sailing through turbulent times. Until now, media companies have been struggling to find high quality solutions – and innovative startups have not been able to find the right connections.

Media Honeypot, the largest media startup event in the Nordics, organized on February 8-9 in Helsinki brings together the two sides to share experiences and to do business in an intimate setting.

The focus of the event is on monetizing digital content, advertising technology, detecting the new trends in media and social media, VR/AR in digital storytelling – and of course finding the most innovative solutions across Europe.

While introducing 75+ handpicked startups to media companies, Media Honeypot combines keynote speeches about the change and future of the media field with one-to-one meetings, pitching and networking.

"It’s time and cost intensive for both media houses and startups to find partners at a time when your competition and customers are moving faster than ever. Through Media Honeypot we want to introduce this cooperation trend common in the tech scene also to the media industry," says long-time media executive and event partner Heikki Rotko. Rotko is known in Finland as the ex-CEO of largest independent TV-channel MTV, and he served also as Chairman of European Association of Television and Radio Sales Houses.

As media executives want to meet startups with solutions for their business needs, startups learn to understand the media companies needs,Rotko adds.

The digital executives participating at Media Honeypot include Google, VICE Scandinavia, Sanoma, Tekes, Finnish National Broadcasting Company YLE, Hubert Burda Media, Alma Media, Finnish Virtual Reality Association FiVR, Otava Group, Egmont, TV 4 and more.

The event organized by ArcticStartup and is expected to draw over 400 visitors from all around Europe to Helsinki.
