Autoliv reaches additional antitrust settlements
(Stockholm, Sweden, March 25, 2015) – – – Autoliv, Inc. (NYSE: ALV and SSE: ALIVsdb) today announced that it has reached agreements regarding additional settlements to resolve certain direct purchasers’ global (including U.S.) or non-U.S. antitrust claims which were not covered by its earlier U.S. direct purchaser antitrust class action settlement. The total amount of these additional settlements is $81 million. The effect on Autoliv’s first quarter 2015 reported operating income is expected to be around $77 million.
In entering into these settlements, Autoliv does not admit any liability and is settling for the purpose of avoiding the uncertainty, risk, expense and distraction of potential litigation or other adversarial proceedings and in the interest of maintaining positive relationships with its customers.
As noted in its Annual Report filed with the SEC, Autoliv is still subject to ongoing antitrust investigations and civil litigation.
