New micro solenoid valves supplement Aventics components for oxygen concentrators

The recently presented MSV8/MSV12 valve series provide new options in equipment design: With customer-specific valves, Aventics supports the trend towards ever smaller, ever lighter, and ever more precise oxygen concentrators.

Laatzen/Düsseldorf, Germany, November 10, 2017 – “Form follows function – this design principle is now more important for pneumatics in medical engineering than ever before,” says Paul Gant, Director Global Life Sciences at Aventics. “We make it possible to construct medical equipment just how our customers want it.” One example: The new MSV8 and MSV12 micro solenoid valves, which Aventics presented for the first time at the Compamed trade fair in Duesseldorf from November 13-16, 2017. These innovations were realized thanks to extensive know-how: 150 years of pneumatics expertise and 30 years of experience with stationary and mobile oxygen concentrators form the basis, rounded off by close collaboration with manufacturers. The result: Components tailored precisely to requirements for mobile applications. “The compact design, light weight, and high reliability were all major development goals,” reports Gant. Add to that the freedom in selecting fastening options and electrical connections as well as the focus Aventics places on energy efficiency.

A key application for the micro solenoid valves is their use in oxygen concentrators for oxygen therapy purposes. They feature an optimized supply/exhaust function, and the solenoid valve is isolated from the contaminated exhaust, improving the service life of the components significantly. Depending on the version, the valves enable a high flow of up to 225 liters/minute at 1.4 bar. The holding power of the 12 mm version is only 0.32 W. Aventics produces reliable, ultra-hygienic products for cleanrooms according to the requirements and standards for life sciences applications.

Low pressure – large product range

Aventics offers a complete range of products for pneumatic applications with very low pressures, as is typical in oxygen concentrators. These include standard components, electrical connection systems and sensors, as well as customer-specific components such as complete valve units with complex functions including integrated diaphragms or the Poka Yoke principle.
