Effective October 2, Axel Johnson International is creating a new SEK 1.4 billion business group named Transport Solutions. The new business group will target the transport market as a whole, going beyond the current focus on components for heavy vehicles and cargo securing solutions covering transport for road, air and sea.

“Transport Solutions will assume a wider investment theme, exploring further growth opportunities within the transport market,” says Martin Malmvik, CEO, Axel Johnson International.

“This is in line with our strategy of creating the best platforms for our companies to develop successfully both through continuous organic growth as well as through acquisitions,” he adds. “Now we will be even better equipped to provide a good home for entrepreneurs looking to sell their companies.”

Axel Johnson International made five acquisitions in the first half of 2017.

In the new Transport Solutions business group, the companies within Cargo Securing Solutions will be joined by Abkati, Widni, Eigenbrodt and recently acquired Sternhammar, allowing the companies to benefit from similarities in their markets. Transport Solutions will be led by Erik Eklöv, currently Managing Director of Cargo Securing Solutions.

“By putting all of our companies present in the transport market into the same business group, we will improve conditions for knowledge sharing among the companies, strengthening the group over time,” Eklöv says.

Osbjörn Odd, Business Development Director Industrial Solutions, has been appointed Business Development Director Transport Solutions, a newly created position in the management team. Pär Johansson, Sales Manager Forankra AB, has been appointed to the newly created position of business controller for Transport Solutions. Gunder Nilsson, Managing Director of ABKATI, who retires at the end of 2017, will stay on part time as a senior advisor to Transport Solutions during 2018.
