Optimum Motorsport’s Ginetta G50 in its new GT4 specification was put through its paces at Donington Park on the 29th April in the opening round of the Bute Motorsport GT Cup Championship.

New groupings based on power to weight ratio and a new three race format ensured that a variety of GT cars, sixteen in total took to the grid and with such a diverse collection of cars the racing was always going to be close. This proved to be the case with three different overall winners taking the spoils in each race. An Aquila CR1 taking race 1 the Nissan GT-R GT3 of Benji Hetherington race 2 and a Ferrari 458 claiming the honours in race 3.

Optimum Motorsport’s G50 GT4 driven by Lee Mowle made it a clean sweep in Class 3 taking all three race wins and an impressive 4th overall in the last race of the day.

“This was Lee’s first time out in the newly upgraded car in what proved to be extremely challenging racing conditions with the two Sunday races taking place in torrential rain, so to come away with all three class wins was just fantastic” said Team Principle Shaun Goff. “Our primary objective was to give the car a thorough shakedown ahead of the next round of the British GT Championship”

Ginetta Challenge racer Ryan Ratcliffe will partner Lee Mowle at the Nurburgring on the 18th/19th May in Optimum Motorsport’s G50 GT4 .
