Carbon Trust secures £1.9m of new funding from regional growth fund
Responding to news that the Carbon Trust has been successful in its application for funding to the first round of the Regional Growth Fund Benjamin Sykes, Director of Innovation said:
“We are delighted that our bid to fast track the uptake of energy efficiency within the industrial sector has been backed with £1.9m of new Government funding. As a result of this award we have secured a further £2.1m of private sector co-funding from 34 companies and Universities. The £4m of total project funding will be run in 11 technology areas in eight regions of the UK over the next two years. The public and private sector funding will be used to accelerate the uptake of energy efficiency in a range of industrial sectors from dairy and aggregates through to bakery and animal feeds. The project is anticipated to generate cost savings of up to £70m annually and 3,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector by 2020.”
