HOUSTON, June 4, 2013 — Houston-based Champion Energy Services (championenergyservices.com), one of the fastest-growing retail electric providers in the nation, today announced an agreement with Lowfoot, Inc. (lowfoot.com), a leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) for smart meter data and demand response, to bring the benefits of smart energy to residential customers.

Champion Energy will use Smart Meter Texas data and Lowfoot’s SaaS system to show customers their energy usage patterns and a projection of their monthly electricity bill. Customers can use this information to better understand and manage their consumption. In addition, customers can choose to post energy updates to their own social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, receive text or email alerts and explore their historical usage online.

“Making smart meter data available more timely reflects Champion Energy’s unwavering commitment to helping customers manage their electricity consumption and energy costs,” said David J. Tudor, President and CEO of Champion Energy. “Our new program, named PowerTrack, will provide valued customers with home energy consumption insights and enhance their customer experience.”

Champion Energy selected Lowfoot’s SaaS platform because it allowed Champion Energy to quickly implement this highly competitive offering. Champion Energy can also use the Lowfoot platform to analyze data from smart meters, aggregate it and help reduce peak energy consumption to mitigate wholesale energy price spikes.

“The Champion Energy team, with its award-winning approach to customer satisfaction and service, has an intense focus on delivering quality insights to consumers” said Philip Playfair, CEO and co-founder of Lowfoot, Inc. “Lowfoot is committed to helping Champion Energy keep its customers ahead of the curve in leveraging the potential of smart meter data.”
