Madison companies join national network for propane vehicle conversions

MADISON, Wis. – April 2, 2013 – Charter Fuels has brought two Madison-area companies to the national Alliance AutoGas network to perform propane autogas vehicle conversions for fleets. Full-service mechanical contractor Dave Jones, Inc. and the Fillback Family of Dealerships will work with fueling provider Charter Fuels to help more Wisconsin fleets save on fuel costs and reduce emissions by running on autogas.

“As the Alliance AutoGas network continues to expand nationwide and even throughout Canada, we’re thrilled to have two new conversion centers come on board in Wisconsin,” says Doug Pink, president of Charter Fuels. “Partnering with the Fillback Family of Dealerships and Dave Jones Inc. means we can help more Madison-area fleets switch to propane autogas, which is hands-down the most viable fuel for fleets.”

Dave Jones Inc. has switched seven Ford E-350s in its own vehicle fleet to autogas, while the Fillback Family of Dealerships has provided autogas vehicle conversions for customer vehicles including Ford Crown Victoria cruisers, Ford E-350 vans and a Chevrolet Silverado truck.

Propane autogas is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world, with more than 18 million autogas vehicles on the road globally. U.S. autogas fleets currently save around $2 per gallon on fuel costs compared to gasoline, and 98 percent of our nation’s autogas supply is made in America. Charter Fuels helps fleets across Wisconsin run on autogas through the Alliance AutoGas complete program of vehicle conversions, fueling, on-site fuel station installation, staff training and ongoing support.

Alliance AutoGas is the exclusive U.S. distributor of Prins autogas systems through Blossman Services, Inc., which manages distribution of propane autogas conversion systems and fueling station equipment at the Autogas Technology Center in Asheville, N.C. Prins has been a world leader in the development of alternative fuel systems for more than 25 years. The bi-fuel Prins VSI system offers flexibility and peace of mind because vehicles can revert to gasoline if necessary, and the entire autogas system can be switched to newer fleet vehicles as older models are retired.

“Propane autogas is less expensive than gasoline, and autogas vehicle conversions and fuel stations are much more affordable compared to other alternative fuels like CNG,” says Josh Budworth of Charter Fuels. “Fleets that switch vehicles to autogas experience very timely ROI, not to mention hundreds of thousands of dollars in fuel cost savings in the long run. They can even make the switch at no upfront cost through Alliance AutoGas.”

Dave Jones, Inc. is a full-service mechanical contractor, providing plumbing, heating and cooling, and fire protection for both residential and commercial customers. A family-run business since 1977, Dave Jones, Inc. has more than 150 dedicated employees (and growing) who provide unmatched customer service.
