New Poll Shows 89 Percent of U.S. Voters Support Legalization of Marijuana for Medicinal Use

Medical Marijuana, Inc. (OTC: MJNA) recognizes and applauds the significant accomplishment of Ohio as the 25th U.S. state or district to allow qualified patients access to medical cannabis (marijuana) for medicinal use. Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed the bill into law on June 9, 2016, three days after a new Quinnipiac University poll that found 89 percent of U.S. voters support legalization of medical marijuana.

Including U.S. territories Puerto Rico and Guam, as well as the District of Columbia, Ohio’s milestone achievement translates to more than 50% of the U.S. with full-spectrum medical cannabis laws enacted. In addition, there are 16 U.S. states with limited medical cannabis access laws enacted, which brings the total of all U.S. states, districts or territories with some form of cannabis law to 43.

“We want to commend the members of Ohio’s General Assembly for passing this bill in such a swift manner and for listening and reacting to Ohio residents who overwhelmingly back medical marijuana,” said Dr. Stuart Titus, Chief Executive Officer of Medical Marijuana Inc. “Ohio’s approval of medical marijuana is a watershed moment for the medical marijuana industry. We have reached a tipping point in the U.S. that could lead to real marijuana reform at the federal level,” Titus added.

According to a new national poll by Quinnipiac University on June 6, 2016, nearly every single voter in the U.S., or 89 percent, support allowing adults to legally use marijuana for medical purposes if prescribed by a doctor. The poll also found that medical marijuana is a nonpartisan issue, with 81 percent of Republicans, 94 percent of Democrats, and 93 percent of independent voters all saying medical marijuana should be legal.

“Also noteworthy in many medical-marijuana-legal states is that we are now seeing an expansion of the number of potential allowable indications for doctors to recommend medicinal cannabis to patients,” added Titus. “In Ohio, as many as 21 medical conditions are slated to be allowed for patients to qualify for medical marijuana, while Pennsylvania recently named 18 qualifying medical conditions under its program. The greater the number of medical indications that states allow for qualification to receive medical marijuana, the greater the number of residents will receive access and benefit.”

In Ohio, patients qualify for medical marijuana if they have one of the following 21 conditions: HIV/AIDS; Alzheimer's disease; Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); cancer; chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE); Crohn's disease; epilepsy or another seizure disorder; fibromyalgia; glaucoma; hepatitis C; inflammatory bowel disease; multiple sclerosis; pain that is chronic, severe, and intractable; Parkinson's disease; post-traumatic stress disorder; sickle cell anemia; spinal cord disease or injury; Tourette's syndrome; traumatic brain injury; and ulcerative colitis. Individuals can petition the state medical board to add conditions.

Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s current investments are in both the marijuana services and industrial hemp cannabidiol (CBD) industries; industrial hemp-based products are available to ship to all 50 states, districts, territories and more than 40 countries. As evidenced by the Company’s international distribution of hemp CBD retail products to Brazil, Mexico and Paraguay by way of government-issued import permits, the global demand for legal cannabis products is on the rise. Medical Marijuana Inc. is also focused on investments that are developing cannabis-based pharmaceutical drug development for global distribution.

When Federal legalization of marijuana occurs in the U.S., Medical Marijuana, Inc. will easily transition into operational expansion of marijuana-derived product production, marketing and distribution. For more information on Medical Marijuana, Inc. visit the company’s website.
