“I am truly honored to be recognized as the 2014 Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation (CPR) Promoter of the Year by the International Grooving & Grinding Association (IGGA),” said McIntyre. ”The IGGA and the Utah Chapter, ACPA have partnered over the last 13 years to bring education and training to UDOT, resulting in UDOT letting over 10 million square yards of diamond grinding. Utah’s roads have been given an extended life because of all the CPR performed and will continue to serve the traveling public well into the future.”
The 2014 Operator of the Year (Iron Man) Award was presented to Tomas Ramos, project supervisor at Concrete Stabilization Technologies (CST) in Denver, Colo. The purpose of this award is to recognize the men and women who work in the field for their leadership with special emphasis on dedication to quality and getting the job done right.
Ramos began working with CST in 2004. In 2008, he transferred to the company’s Utah location, where he became overseer of operations in the Salt Lake City area. Under his supervision, CST’s production in the region has consistently increased. Ramos has developed innovative processes to increase production, such as placing pressure gauges near the guns of injection equipment to eliminate time consuming trips back and forth to the rigs to check pressures. One of his recent accomplishments was the rebuilding and redesigning of a CST production unit to increase safety and efficiency in the field.
“Ramos has excelled in every position he has held with our company,” said Roy Mathis, president of CST. “He is known for taking notice of difficult situations, making an analysis and offering suggestions, oftentimes providing the key to the success of a difficult project. He is dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with key industry clients and goes out of his way to provide quality solutions for customers in the transportation industry on a multitude of CPR projects. Ramos takes time to answer questions; he develops test solutions and continues to provide high quality results on each CPR project he is involved with, whether it be local Departments of Transportation, municipalities, or engineers. This is truly an honor for the entire CST team and our associated affiliates.”
The 2014 Government Official of the Year Award was awarded to Senator John Pederson who represents Senate District 14 in Central Minnesota. The Government Official of the Year Award recognizes leadership in transportation with special emphasis on grooving, grinding and CPR.
Senator Pederson serves on a number of Senate committees and is the vice chairman of the Capital Investment Committee. He is part owner of Amcon Block & Precast, Inc. and is an instructor at several institutions of higher learning.
“Senator Pederson has been very open to working with our industry on issues we believe have been or are detrimental to our success or the taxpayers of Minnesota. He has been very willing to listen to the issues and take the information we have provided him into consideration. Senator Pederson is a true statesman; he cares about the issues that will make his constituent’s lives and his state better,” said Matt Zeller, executive director of the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota, an organization that strives to provide cooperation and aid to local, state and federal authorities in establishing standards for highway, street and airfield construction.
“As is often the case in life, the road to success is paved by good, solid partners committed to the same goals,” said John Roberts, executive director of the IGGA. “This year’s group of award winners exemplify the definition of true partners as evidenced by the success that this industry has achieved. The IGGA and its members offer a hearty congratulations to this year’s winners along with our thanks.”
