The 36th edition of Copenhagen Jazz Festival starts on Friday, July 4, and offers 10 days of sumptuous jazz fest throughout Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. With 100 venues and more than 120 concerts a day is Copenhagen Jazz Festival one of Europe’s largest jazz events.

There are already two SOLD OUT shows with the festival’s ultimate headliners; Gregory Porter (US), 7/7 in the DR Concert Hall – and Chick Corea & Stanley Clarke (US), 4/7 at Kulturhuset Viften. And only A FEW TICKETS LEFT for Concha Buika (ES), The John Scofield Überjam Band (US) and Tinariwen (ML) in DR Concert Hall and the two Christian McBride Trio (US) concerts in Jazzhouse.

We encourage the audience to buy the tickets in presale, as the sales go pretty fast for the other big international names, including companies of Manu Katché & Richard Bona (FR/CM), Children of the Light Trio (PA/US), Stacey Kent (US), Hiromi (JP), Thurston Moore & Mats Gustafsson (US/SE), Christian McBride Trio (US), Dave Holland’s “Prism “(UK/US), Joshua Redman Quartet (US) and many more.

The complete overview of all concerts can be found in the printed program, in the free official app and on Jazz.dk. Besides the headliners, the program also includes Open Air concerts, children’s jazz, night concerts, and this year’s special concert themes such as Jazz by the Sea, Something Else, 21st Century Jazz, Future Sound of Jazz, Jazz Remixed, Jazz Meets the Street, among others.

This year’s biggest new theme story is Wild at Heart, which focuses on female instrumentalists and composers at Copenhagen Main Library. New festival venues this year are: The Standard, PB43, Papirøen, Warehouse 9, B9 Wine Bar, Bellahøj Church, Bevar’s, DFDS Pram 19, Fuego, Funder, Kaffesalonen, Odd Fellow Palæet, We Love People and Pumpehuset.

There’s also been added a few last minute program news. Best of Jazz Remixed will take place Saturday evening, 5/7, at the Frederiksberg Fire Station, with six Danish top DJs, that will remix Billie Holiday, Donald Byrd and Herbie Hancock. Vor Frue Kirke will present a night concert with Cecilie Norby, and the latest piece of news is an exclusive release concert with Carsten Dahl at Jazzhus Montmartre. The final line-up for the opening concert with Aaron Parks in Politiken Hus is also published and includes, among others, Marilyn Mazur and Donald “AC” Christensen.
