Talented youngsters battled it out in the national finals of David Lloyd Leisure’s Tennis All Stars Championships 2014 at the weekend (6-7 December).

The event, held at the group’s Raynes Park club in London, was the culmination of three months of competition, beginning with in-club tournaments, then regional finals, and involving some 2,000 children.

The finals saw 64 youngsters on court, with winners crowned in three categories - green, orange and red. The Tennis All Stars programme takes players through the colour-coded system based on age and level.

Martin Fuller, David Lloyd Leisure’s tennis participation manager, said: “We have over 12,500 children playing tennis every week on our Tennis All Stars coaching programme. Competition is the backbone of any sport and having healthy, enjoyable, easy-to-access competitions attracts new players and keeps existing players in the sport longer.

“The David Lloyd Leisure National Tennis All Stars Championships is a great opportunity to celebrate and engage our Tennis All Stars children into a company-wide competition. Congratulations to all those youngsters who took part for displaying such enthusiasm, energy and good sportsmanship, and particularly to the winners, whose skills and talent have earned them this fantastic recognition.”
