Nordic Organic Food Fair 2014 returns to Malmö on 26-27 October

Nordic region’s only dedicated trade show for organic food and drink opens this weekend.

With organic food and drink sales enjoying continued strong growth across Scandinavia, this year’s Nordic Organic Food Fair 2014 – opening at 10am on Sunday 26 October at Malmö, Sweden – looks set for a busy two days of business and networking.

The sold out show, which has more than doubled in size since its launch last year, offers food buyers, retailers and foodservice professionals a vibrant showcase of healthy, sustainable, organic delicacies and speciality ingredients from 150 international organic food and drink suppliers.

Representatives from Martin & Servera; Matse AB; Superbrugsen; Mathem i Sverige AB; Catering Engros; Coop Trading A/S; Coop Sweden, Dansk Supermarked; Lidl Sverige, ICA Sverige AB; Haugen Gruppen AS; Irma; Kung Markatta AB; Meyer Kantiner A/S; Q8 Danmark A/S; Scandic Hotels; Wessanen UK; Whole Foods Market, and hundreds of independents are among the buyers (from nearly 80 countries) that have already pre-registered to attend.

According to the latest research, the Nordic organic food market has never looked healthier.  KRAV Sweden (the country’s best known eco-labels for organic food), recently reported a 13% growth in the value of the organic market in 2013.  Whilst organic food and beverage sales in Sweden (which totalled EUR 963.6m in 2013) are expected to rise a further 30% this year.  The story is much the same in Denmark.  There, sales of organic food have risen by 62% since 2007, according to analyst from Danish financial services provider Nykredit; whilst general food sales have steadily decreased over the last 15 years.  In short, Danish consumers are continuing to spend more on organic than anywhere else in the EU (an average of 168 Euros per capita per year at the last count).

Given the scale of this lucrative market, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Nordic Organic Food Fair has enjoyed such strong industry support from the outset.  Around 70% of exhibitors for 2014 are based outside the region, whilst big name Scandinavian exhibitors include Biova Organic Food, HGM Dryckservice AB, B&P Handelskompagni AB, à la eco, Biogan A/S, and I Am Pure Superfoods.  Primewine, Yuko Ono Stockholm, Paleo Crunch the Raw Energy and Recovery Bar, Herbaria – münchmedia – AlltGott; EkoPallen – Ekologiska Säljbolaget, Solhjulet A/S, Svenska Lantchips, Borngros Marketing ApS, Metamorfosi AB, Stiftelsen Biodynamiska Produkter are just some of the brands preparing to make their show debut.
