U-2013 GLOBAL URANIUM SYMPOSIUM WILL BE AN EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED

(March 27, 2013; Corpus Christi, TX) – Members of the South Texas Minerals Section of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration are actively planning the 2013 Global Uranium Symposium (U-2013), which is scheduled for September 29 – October 3, 2013 at the Omni Bayfront Hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas. In addition to a call for presentations, registration, symposium exhibitor and sponsorship information can be found on the conference Website, www.U-2013.org.
“This symposium and trade show is already shaping up to be an educational and best practices experience for members of the uranium industry – those responsible for the mining and production of the fuel used for nuclear power,” said Peter Luthiger, vice president of Mesteña Uranium and chair of the society’s South Texas Minerals Section. “Our goal is to bring in both experts and frontline workers involved in all phases of the uranium fuel cycle to discuss and share knowledge of an energy source that is vital to keeping America’s economy strong as well as to advance uranium mining, safety and reclamation.”
In addition to workshops and presentations on uranium research and global developments, participants will have the opportunity to tour regional uranium facilities and a nuclear power plant while enjoying the beautiful South Texas weather and hospitality.
“South Texas is where much of the national uranium renaissance is occurring,” said Luthiger. “So it makes sense to have the signature uranium event here to bring together professionals in the fields of mining, processing, exploration, permitting, health and safety, as well as business leaders, experts in the uranium market and government officials involved in regulation and permitting.”

The South Texas Minerals Section of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration facilitates the exchange of information regarding subjects relating to the responsible exploration, exploitation, production, utilization and reclamation of minerals and metals. SME members include engineers, geologists, metallurgists, educators, students and researchers. Net proceeds from the symposium are used for scholarships at local universities.
