STOCKHOLM, Sweden and SAN ANTONIO, US, June 20, 2012 – Enea® (NASDAQ OMX Nordic:ENEA), the world’s leading operating system solution vendor for 3G and 4G infrastructure equipment is summarizing the results of the updated strategy announced in December 2011. A transformation project was defined to optimize the organization and offering. With the announcements of Enea Linux and Enea Linux Base Station Platform, Enea has fulfilled the short term steps in its strategy to become the leading provider of operating system solutions for communications infrastructure.

Enea has during the past six months successfully executed the project with the following results:

  • A focused software company
With the divestment of the Nordic consulting business in the beginning of the year, Enea has a homogeneous and streamlined business with increased focus on its core software products.
  • Improved support for key accounts
The focus on key accounts has resulted in product plans aligned with the future development plans of our key customers. Enea is now having deeper discussions with the leading 3G and 4G equipment manufacturers and is offering better support to new and existing key accounts. One recently announced success includes a license deal valued to 8.3 MSEK with a key customer in Japan.
  • Evolution of Enea OSE RTOS
The products of Enea’s customers include several operating systems – both commercial and open source. The Enea OSE family of real-time operating systems is subject to a continuous evolution, whereby the latest undertaking is extending OSE Multicore Edition with 64-bit support for select System-on-Chip architectures.
  • Linux fully embraced
Enea Linux, which recently was launched with the improved real-time capabilities that are important in telecommunications, is a successful result of our long experience of building robust and future proof telecom systems. Enea now has the relevant building blocks to deploy entire integrated system solutions for communications infrastructure.
  • Solutions targeting the communications industry
Enea is further strengthening its leading position as OS solution provider to the communications industry with today’s launch of Enea Linux Base Station Platform, targeting multi-standard Radio Access Networks.
  • Global coordination of large customer projects
The improved global coordination of large customer projects has resulted in high revenue growth for the service business.
  • Closer collaboration with leading chip manufacturers
The Enea Linux Base Station Platform has been designed in collaboration with Freescale and will fit Freescale QorIQ®, StarCore®, and QorIQ Qonverge™ System-on-Chip series architectures.

Enea estimates that more than half of the world’s installed base of macro cell base stations and more than half of the world’s LTE population coverage are powered by Enea software. Enea’s strong market position is proven by its leading technologies addressing the challenges of today’s networks. Enea shall continue to be the natural choice of supplier to companies developing communicating products, in need of innovative and reliable solutions.
