BGCTV Cable Network Operator in Beijing China to Offer Multi-Screen Video Services Using a Cloud Solution

South San Francisco, CALIF., Aug. 28, 2014 –Consumers in Beijing, China may be soon getting their multi-screen video services from the cloud using Envivio’s cloud video solution.  Envivio (NASDAQ:  ENVI) today announced that it has deployed the first cloud video transcoding service in China for Beijing Gehua CATV Network Co., Ltd. (BGCTV), marking the first multi-screen video service offered by a Chinese cable network operator using a cloud solution, and the largest multi-screen cable service offered in China, estimated to reach 3 million subscribers.

Technical Background

For this unprecedented deployment, BDCTV is using Envivio Muse encoding software. Muse encoders are powering BGCTV’s multi-screen service that offers BGCTV’s 150 SD channels and 50 HD video channels to connected TVs, PCs, smartphones, ipads, etc.

Envivio’s software-based video solutions support the full range of standards, resolutions and profiles, including latest generation HEVC (H.265) compression as well as AVC (H.264) and MPEG-2.
