As the year draws to a close, and as you unpack the tinsel, dust off the wreaths, decorate the tree and wrap up presents - thoughts invariably turn to the festive celebrations ahead. But as we in the UK focus on keeping warm, wrapped in coats and hats and staying indoors whenever possible - across the pond in South Africa, the festive season is all about the summer sunshine and long evenings spent outdoors. And this year is no different! Not to be missed is Steenberg’s annual Carols by Candlelight – a festive sing-song from 18h00 on Thursday 19th December on the lawn in front of Catharina’s and The Steenberg Hotel. This year, carols will be performed by Felicity Kiran and the Steenberg Festival Orchestra. Guests are welcome to bring their blankets, chairs and their own picnics from 17h00 - but there will also be festive food and Steenberg wines on sale. Unsurprisingly, both Catharina’s and Bistro Sixteen82 are already fully booked for Christmas Lunch on 25th- but there are still a few places left for Christmas Eve Dinner - and the popular New Year’s Eve Party on 31 December at Catharina’s which includes a mouth-watering 4 course meal with entertainment by DJ Crispin to ensure you can dance the night away and see in the New Year in style.
