The Ikano Group has donated EUR 100 million to the Kamprad Family Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Research and Charity, established in 2011 on the initiative of the Kamprad family.

The foundation was founded by Ingvar Kamprad in December 2011 and is a private and independent foundation based in Växjö, Sweden. Its purpose is to support, stimulate and reward education and scientific research to promote entrepreneurship, the environment, competence, health and social progress.

Peter, Jonas and Mathias Kamprad, the owners of Ikano Group, have expressed a desire that the donation should, for the main part, be allocated to environmental projects, with a special focus on opportunities to practically implement research results.

“My brothers and I are grateful for being able to contribute to this initiative,” says Peter Kamprad, Chairman of the Ikano Board. Peter continues, “We hope that in time, our donation will transform into solid solutions that benefit the global environment.”

“The Ikano Group is proud to support the Kamprad Family Foundation and looks forward to following the developments over the years,” comments Birger Lund, Ikano Group.

The Foundation will offer special support to projects intended to:

• Improve quality of life for the elderly

• Entrepreneurship—especially promoting a living countryside

• A better environment

• Development, research and training in architecture, furnishing and design

• Medical research and education

The Foundation will especially promote the implementation of research results achieved so that scientific advances can benefit the many people quickly and cost-efficiently.

“The Ikano Group’s generous donation significantly strengthens the foundation’s ability to make a difference for the many people,” says Professor Lena Fritzén, Executive Board Member of the Kamprad Family Foundation. “The donator’s emphasis on environment and practical implementation of research serves an important global need and is well aligned with the foundation purposes.”

The Foundation was originally financed by donations from Ingvar Kamprad and Inter IKEA Group. The present capital of the Foundation is over EUR 200 million, including the Ikano Group donation. In addition, Inter IKEA Group has decided on an annual contribution of EUR 30 million to the Foundation, for as long as the company results so permit.

The Board intends to establish guidelines for applications at a meeting in August 2012.
