Fortum invites start-ups to hackathon

Fortum invites start-ups and software developers to apply to join Hack the Turbine Hackathon on 13 – 15 May.

​Hackathon will be arranged with Industryhack. Fortum experts will be supporting the participants in energy-related questions.  

-  Open innovation cooperation with start-ups and software developers is important to us. We want to find new and agile ways to cooperate in innovation, says Fortum’s CTO Heli Antila.

As stated in the new Fortum strategy start-ups have an increasingly important role in innovating both new technologies and business models in the changing energy industry landscape. Digitalisation will enable productivity improvements in the existing businesses and development of new customer offerings.

During Hackathon the participants will ideate and develop solutions for predictive maintenance with technologies such as machine learning, data visualisation, augmented and virtual reality. Fortum provides the participants with real time and history data on energy production from several production units. The winners of Hackathon will receive a financial reward of 4,500 euros, and the best teams will have an opportunity to pilot their innovation with Fortum.
