The cancellation of Fortum's own shares acquired by the company

Fortum's Board of Directors has decided to cancel the total of 5,910,000 Fortum 
shares owned by the company without decreasing the share capital. The shares    
have been acquired and shall be cancelled based on the authorisation given to   
the Board of Directors in the Annual General Meeting on 28 March 2007. The      
cancellation will be entered in the Trade Register on or around 20 December     
2007. After the cancellation, Fortum Corporation's total number of shares is    
886,683,058.
