Gothenburg, Sweden and Munich, Germany– April 25, 2012 – Pelagicore AB, a leader in open source automotive software and key GENIVI contributor announced today that it will start a new subsidiary, Pelagicore AG, together with a team of six very experienced Qt for Automotive experts. The new team shall deliver best-in-class professional services for Qt based automotive projects and also develop products to extend Qt and its use in the Pelagicore Infotainment Platform. The subsidiary shall open on July 1st of 2012 with offices in Munich, Germany under the leadership of Alex Diebald.

Pelagicore recognizes that car manufacturers see User Experience, as provided through the Infotainment system, Instrument Clusters and Head-Up displays, as a key differentiator. The integration of automotive and third party application in the User Experience is absolutely essential to the end-customer perception of the products. Pelagicore believes that Qt is the best available application and User Experience framework available for automotive. The Pelagicore Infotainment Platform combines hardware and Linux Distribution independence, with best-in-class Resource Management Middleware and a large library of automotive grade services all accessible to application developers through Qt APIs.

Pelagicore AG’s new team will consist of highly experienced software engineers that represent a combined Qt experience of more than 40 years. The team has all started working for Trolltech, the company that developed Qt before being acquired, and during recent years focussed on supporting customers using Qt in an Automotive and GENIVI context.

Pelagicore AG will offer proven service packages, rendered by the team members during the last five years in various companies developing Qt: dedicated product development support, requirements analysis, and Qt workshops and trainings specifically tailored for car manufacturers and their suppliers. Also, the Pelagicore AG team will continue contributing to the Qt Project and also create commercial products to further support the usage of Qt in the automotive industry.

“It is in our strategy to secure that the Pelagicore Infotainment Platform provides best-in-class User Experience performance and tools to our customers. We do this by combining the best Open Source and commercial products in our Platform. We believe that Qt is the best application and User Experience framework that is supported by a large community of developers worldwide and therefor ideally suited for the deployment of a User Experience Framework that enables third party applications. We are very proud to be able to announce the opening of the Munich office with the best people applying Qt in automotive under the leadership of Alex Diebald ”, says Alwin Bakkenes, CEO Pelagicore AB.
