LACA Stop Press: Rational and Frima launch All-in-2

Two market leaders, one proven space-saving multifunctional school kitchen design

The LACA Main Event will see the launch of All-in-2, a new kitchen design concept from Frima and Rational. Designed to answer the needs of the modern school kitchen, it combines two market-leading multifunctional appliances, the SelfCookingCenter 5 Senses and the VarioCooking Center Multificiency, to allow caterers to cook everything they need in a compact cookline. As well as saving space compared to conventional appliances, All-in-2 also saves energy and water while delivering consistent, high-quality cooking results, a high production capacity and lower running costs.

With All-in-2 school caterers can steam, blanch, stew, boil, braise, roast, poach, simmer, bake, grill, deep-fry, pan-fry, gratinate, confit and pressure cook. Because the All-in-2 replaces so many conventional appliances, it reduces kitchen space by up to 50% or even more.

A research project carried out by the University of Zurich found that, by switching from conventional equipment to a cookline based on All-in-2, the kitchen massively reduced energy and water consumption and was able to produce more food from less space.

St John and St James CE Primary School in Hackney feeds 200 children in a lunch hour from a very small kitchen which has two Rational 6-grid combi ovens, a couple of induction hobs and a Frima VarioCooking Center. “It’s much safer and easier to cook as we’re not having to lift heavy pots and pans around the place, and the equipment is easy to clean, which saves time,” says head chef Ivie Bello-Osagie.

Frima and Rational are offering an all-inclusive customer support package for All-in-2, including demonstrations and ‘test drives’ of the All-in-2 concept for prospective customers. On-site training and ongoing training after purchase will be key aspects of the customer support package, to ensure end-users get the maximum benefit from their investment.
