CARERS ACTION FORUM

A MEETING in October aims to show carers how Government proposals will affect them and their families.

Experts from Gateshead Citizen’s Advice Bureau will advice on recent benefit changes at the next meeting of the Carers Action Forum (CAF.)

Emma Marshall, Welfare Benefits Caseworker, will be on hand to advise members of recent changes in support for carers and their families.

CAF meets at Gateshead Carers’ Association, 11 Regent Terrace, Gateshead, NE8 1LU, on Tuesday 19 October 2010 between 10am and noon.

It was set up to give a voice to carers in order to further debate and action on issues affecting them.

CAF has taken the lead in a number of campaigns and pieces of research to examine and draw upon the largely unexplored and unexpressed daily experiences of carers.

Gateshead Carers Association, which hosts CAF, exists to relieve the stresses experienced by carers in the Borough of Gateshead - in particular by providing information, advice and support services to carers, to help them and their dependents.

A carer is someone who looks after a relative or friend who is ill, disabled, elderly, or in need of emotional support. A carer may be a parent, husband or wife, son or daughter, friend or neighbour, who supports someone on a regular basis.
