Gatespace Extending own Distributed Service Platform to Complete Telematics Solution New offering provides turnkey solutions for telematics operators, vehicle OEMs and telematics systems developers. Göteborg, Sweden - March 4, 2002 - Gatespace, a provider of open standards based distributed service platforms for designing, developing, and delivering network-based services, announced today that it is extending its distributed service platform, GDSP, into a complete solution for telematics. Since its formation in early 1999, Gatespace has focused on providing distributed service platforms based on the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGI). Its customers included systems integrators, device developers, telecommunication companies, utility companies, and infrastructure providers interested in providing OSGI services. "This new product offering allows Gatespace to focus on providing solutions for telematics operators, vehicle OEMs and telematics systems developers offering solutions for vehicle telematics, M2M, and fleet management," says Staffan Truvé, CEO of Gatespace. According to Truvé, "Our experience in providing open, standards-based platforms for a wide range of customers has shown us that a turn-key solution is required for our customers in the telematics market. By evolving GDSP, we are responding to our customers' needs." Gatespace's new telematics solution dynamically connects in-vehicle edge servers and devices running end-user telematics services with services offered on the server-side. By linking the enterprise side to the edge, Gatespace provides an efficient and secure way to remotely provision, configure and operate managed-services over wireless networks. Christer Larsson, Telematics Director for Gatespace says, "By using our own GDSP technology, we can provide end-to-end security from back-end enterprise servers all the way to edge devices over any number of wireless carriers such as SMS, GSM, GPRS, AMPS, CDMA, and 802.11. The in- vehicle edge device can be connected to local area networks like CAN, MOST or Bluetooth." Additionally, the solution will offer vehicle provisioning, including service provisioning and provisioning of in-vehicle devices; along with an operator portal and interfaces to existing billing and CRM systems. Gatespace will also provide basic telematics services including vehicle commands (unlock door, start tracking, etc.) and vehicle monitoring (positioning, vehicle status) that can be used in a stand-alone turnkey system or can be integrated into a larger legacy system. Instrumental in the extension of GDSP into a complete telematics solution is Lars-Erik Helander, Senior System Architect for Gatespace and former CTO from Wireless Car AB. Lars-Erik has over 20 years of experience in software and hardware development, with particular experience in the areas of distributed systems, high availability systems, mobile data networks, IP networks and embedded systems. Gatespace is a supplier of future-proof, managed-services solutions for connecting applications and services running on enterprise systems to servers and gateways, running on the edge of the Internet. With our Enterprise-to-Edge solutions, our customers extend their business offerings by provisioning, configuring, and operating applications and services within the Broadband and Telematics markets.
