Following the investigations recently initiated by Brazilian authorities, Getinge has initiated an internal verification process and decided to actively approach and cooperate with relevant authorities.

The matters being investigated concern the period between early 2000’s and 2015, involving Getinge’s entities in Brazil; Maquet Cardiopulmonary do Brasil Indústria e Comércio Ltda. and Maquet do Brasil Equipamentos Médicos Ltda. Among the allegations being part of the ongoing public investigations are alleged bid-rigging and cartel practices related to Getinge’s activities in Brazil. It is currently presumed that the outcome of the ongoing investigations will not have a material financial impact on the Group, but it can at this early stage of the process not be excluded.

“We take these allegations very seriously. We have very clear global policies and strive to conduct our business according to applicable laws, regulations and industry codes of the countries where we operate. We demand the highest standard of business ethics and integrity from all Getinge employees - no matter what country or settings they are active in”, says Mattias Perjos, President and CEO of Getinge.

The investigation is part of ongoing public investigations on cartel activities related to the sales of medical equipment and is being carried out by the Brazilian authorities. According to a press release issued by CADE, 46 companies, 80 individuals and the industry association Associação Brasileira de Importadores e Distribuidores de Implantes (ABRAIDI) are under investigation.
