May 8, 2012 – Merchantville, NJ: More than 500 participants laced-up their most comfortable shoes and raised over $30,000 to help children with cancer on Sunday May 6th at Go4theGoal Foundation’s 6th Annual Richard’s Run® 5K River Run, Cooper River Park, Pennsauken, NJ.

“The funds raised today will support Go4theGoal Foundation’s diverse programs that support children battling cancer, their families, pediatric oncology units in more than 30 hospitals across the country as well as pediatric cancer research,” said Beth Stefanacci, Go4theGoal’s executive director.

Special thanks go to presenting sponsors, Brandywine Senior Living and The Access Group as well as students and faculty from Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill who volunteered their time to make this year’s Run a success.

“While losing our son to cancer in 2007 was a tragedy for our family, our journey over the past five years with Go4theGoal has led us to some remarkable people,” said Stefanacci as she introduced New Jersey residents, and Go4theGoal champions, Shane Bailo of Stratford, Jason Garstkiewicz and Colin Hough of Haddonfield and A.J. Mattia of Turnersville who are bravely battling cancer and came out to participate in the Run.

The Tim Frantz Memorial Medal was presented to the top male finisher, Korey Jeffries, 18 of Gloucester, NJ for his time of 17:35 and to the top female finisher, Meghan Giordano, 13 of Pennsauken, NJ for her time of 22:52.  The top finisher in each age group was given an award to commemorate their achievement, including Mason Domico, age 10 who finished the race in 20:34.
